In the heart of Aalst, we sheet-piled the city’s first and so far only underground car park. The car park below the Hopmarkt offers space to 317 cars, divided over three parking levels.
Because the car park is situated in the centre of Aalst, we paid extra attention to the local residents and surrounding historic buildings. The choice for a vibration-free installation was thus obvious. With the Cutter Soil Mixing technique (CSM), we created a sheet-pile wall for a building pit of 232 running metres and with a depth of 21 metres. Subsequently, we placed steel sheet piles in the unhardened soil mix sections as reinforcement, also in a vibration-free manner. As the pioneer of this revolutionary process, we were the ideal partner for this solid and soil-made foundation.
