This soil improvement technique is used by Soiltech since early 2017.
By using large needle vibrators, so-called ‘vibroflots’, soils of over 15 metres deep can be compacted. Water and air are driven through jets into the tip of the needle. The resulting vibrations will liquefy the soil, allowing the needle to penetrate and compact the soil.
This technique is extremely suited for compacting sites that have been replenished with sand reclaimed from dredging works. This activity not only fits in perfectly with the activities of mother company Jan De Nul Group but also increases the latter’s position to win large-scale integrated dredging projects. The technique was first applied for the construction of a new ferry port in Calais.
